BiographySimon originally comes from the village of Oakworth, West Yorkshire (most famous for its contribution to the 1970’s film ‘The Railway Children’). He developed an interest for performing at first school and spent several years as a member of Debut Theatre School in Shipley, training in Drama, Singing and Dance. During his time at Debut, Simon joined several amateur dramatic groups, performing in roles including: · Billy – Billy the musical · Scarecrow – The Wizard of Oz · Freddy Einsford-Hill – My Fair Lady · Ringmaster – Barnum · Simon has also made appearances on television for ITV in shows such as My Parents are Aliens, Emmerdale and played the role of Browny in series 3 of the children's show Adams Family Tree.
At the end of his final year, Simon was part of the onstage ensemble in Sweeney Todd at the Royal Festival Hall with Bryn Terfel, Maria Friedman, Philip Quast and the London Philharmonic Orchestra. In December 2007, Simon was part of the original cast of Stephen Fry’s Cinderella at the London Old Vic, playing the roles of Jack and Marigold the cow and understudying the ugly sister ‘Dolce’. Les Miserables marked Simon’s official West End Debut, and he was thrilled at 23 years old to be covering the role Jean Valjean and Bamatabois. Since Joining the cast of Les Miserables in 2008 Simon has performed the role of Jean Valjean and Bamatabois numerous times and was delighted to perform the concert version of the show with the 2008-2009 cast and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra at Osborne House open air theatre on the Isle of Wight. In 2009 simon was asked to be understudy to both Scott Davies and Daniel Boys for the touring company The Showbiz Pops Orchestra for their show The Music Of Andrew Lloyd Webber.
